Join us for our first ever game jam, open to everyone! Practice your skills in this fun game development challenge! Begins Apr 3 and ends Apr 10th.
This event is a 7-day game-making challenge. It begins on the first Friday of the month and ends on the second Friday of the month. Participants will make a game or prototype in a week, stress-free. Whether deciding to jam with friends or going solo, remember to have fun, all skill levels are welcome.
Q: What Is A Game Jam?
A: A game jam is a creative exercise that lets you practice making a game based on a given theme, from start to finish in a defined and limited amount of time. Described by game developer Adriel Wallick as "practicing the skill of finishing". It’s easy to come up with numerous game ideas but actually making it a reality is a worthy challenge!
Q: What Do I Need To Do?
A: Create a game in one week! While weekend-long game jams can be exciting and terrifying for experienced game developers, this jam’s length is meant to encourage absolute beginners to take the time to learn how to make a game. Even if you have development experience, you should be learning something new—whether engine, language, art, music or creating a kind of game you’ve never tried to make before.
Q: Who Can Join?
A: Anyone! This jam is especially welcoming for people who have never made games before—you just may find that it’s not that terrifying or difficult with the right resources and commitment.
Q: What if I don't Finish or Make a Terrible Game?
A: You might not! That’s okay. Terrible games are also completely fine! We encourage you to submit anyway. The goal is that by the end of the week, you will have learned a useful skill in some areas of game design.
Q: How Do I Participate?
Q: Can I Join After It’s Started?
A: Yes! Just sign up on itch.io and submit your project when it’s done!
We look forward to seeing each and every game created!
